Cats are often misunderstood as pets that are not affectionate and loving towards their owners. While they do not bark loudly when you return home or wag their tails furiously when they see you, cats are affectionate in quiet, subtle ways. Here are 8 ways that your cat show you love.
Cats headbutt you to leave their scent on you, claiming you as one of theirs. They also headbutt you as a way of greeting you.
The bellies of cats are extremely sensitive and it is the most vulnerable part of their body. When your cat shows you his belly, it means that he trusts you hundred percent.
When they were kittens, cats knead their moms' teats for milk. Growing up, they associate kneading with the comfort of nursing. Kneading you may also be a way of them to prepare the soft surface (usually your body) for sleeping. Either reason, cats knead when they are comfortable and trusting.
If your cat follows you around the house, it means that they want to be close to you and keep you in view at all times.
5. PURRS LOUDLY
Cats purr when they are relaxed and happy. When they curl up with you and purr softly, it means that they are enjoying your company and love your touch.
6. MAKING SLOW BLINKS AT YOU
Cats send kisses to their beloved human companions by slow blinking at them. When your cat slow blinks at you, they are telling you that they love you and are very comfortable in your presence. Send kisses back to your cat by slow blinking back!
Cats hunt and present their 'prey' to their favourite humans as a show of love and respect. Their prey can range from a favourite toy to a live animal that has been hunted and killed. While it may be gory, receiving a gift from your cat is probably the highest compliment a cat owner can receive. Do not punish your cat for dirtying the floor or for bringing back dead animals. They only do that because they love you.
8. WANTING TO CUDDLE AT ALL TIMES
If your cat wants to climb into your lap every time you settle into the couch, you are definitely his favourite human.
